Meet the Board

Meet the Board

Our board members all come from various backgrounds and sectors, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Castelan. Find out more about them below.

Martin Napper
Since our team came together in the mid 1990s, we have issued around 25 million policies and responded to more than 1 million customer service requests. - Martin Napper, Chief Executive Officer

Martin Napper

Chief Executive Officer

After qualifying with KPMG Martin moved into Industry as soon he could to experience the real world. Focusing initially on manufacturing companies, he worked his way up to be FD at a Chemical Business. Martin then joined HomeServe Plc to be an FD in one of their subsidiaries. Performing several roles as a Group Commercial FD he spent a lot of time closing and integrating a number of surplus, non-core businesses. His final assignment was to dispose of the HomeServe Furniture Warranties business in Weston-super-Mare. After six months Martin realised the potential of the Warranty business and therefore led a Management Buy-Out with 2 fellow shareholders, and created The Castelan Group.

In his spare time (very limited!) Martin likes to walk his dog and play golf. Recently he completed the National 3 Peaks Challenge and it nearly killed him!

Stuart Armstrong

Stuart Armstrong

Finance Director

A qualified accountant, Stuart had 5 years’ experience in the telecoms industry before joining the HomeServe Group in 2006.

Performing numerous finance roles around the Group gave him the experience, confidence and inspiration to join the MBO team in 2011.

Stuart is extremely proud of the achievements we have made at Castelan since 2011 and enjoys heading up an extremely professional and progressive team.

Outside of work Stuart enjoys spending time with his family dispersed by the odd game of 5-aside football and an even less frequent round of golf.

Ian Annand

Ian Annand

Non-executive Chairman

Ian graduated with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and began his career in industry working for United Biscuits.  He was later recruited into Nomura International, an international investment bank where he worked for seventeen years in corporate finance and capital markets.  During this time he advised a broad range of countries, their state owned agencies, supranational organisations, banks and corporates on debt management and corporate finance strategies and transactions. Ian left banking fourteen years ago and has since worked with or advised small and medium sized companies across a variety of sectors.  He acted as advisor in the successful Management Buy-Out of HomeServe Retail Warranties, after which he was invited to become Chairman of Castelan.  Recognising the potential within Castelan Ian also “bought-in” as a shareholder to the “Buy-Out!”

Outside work, whilst Ian enjoys most racket games, his passion lies in various country pursuits including attempting to “train” his “Working” Cocker Spaniel!
